This is hopefully the last post about birthdays for awhile. Beloved co-worker James (of New Zealand fame) turned one year older on the 20th of February. It wasn’t until the following week, however, that we made a night out of it. We had a great crowd and great deal of fun. James finally let his wild side out – and tore up the local bars with his moves. He made us all proud.
I met James over a year ago now while working at JLS. He was visiting from New Zealand and during his semester break at uni he worked part-time in Suji. I was introduced by June – another part-timer who has since left. Things were pretty swell right from the get-go. James had lots of spunk. He’s got possibly the most New Zealand like person you’ll ever meet. James has since returned to Korea after completing his second year at uni but is now thinking of sticking around for awhile – as he needs to fulfill his military duty.
This has lead to good times – see last week’s post. James was also a big lifesaver during the intensive schedule as he helped us all with our difficult report cards. What’s more, James is a fantastic guy to have dinner with. The conversation is never dry – filled with much witty and juvenile jargon. You can always count on James to keep things interesting.
The actual evening was a bit intense at the end. It started casually enough, playing pool and jesting with the locals. James had a job interview the next morning – and didn’t want things to get too crazy. However, once more of the team assembled – those fine lines started to blur. Ultimately, I assume everyone had fun – especially James. He seems to thrive in hip-hop/rap environments – exploring his inner rhythms. Love ya James.
