Hi there. My blogging has been a little dismal as of late. I think I can safely say though that August has been a busy month. After returning from my one week holiday back home, I was thrust into teaching morning classes for three weeks. For whatever reason, these intensive classes were much more draining than other years. This was probably due to traveling tiredness but I felt a certain disconnect with my students as well. I think I’ll blog more about the intensive classes following this post. I’ve got some videos I want to put up there too.
Regardless, after finishing intensives, life was just as fierce. As fall draws nigh, many English teachers are leaving the great Korea. This results in many goodbyes and parties. I’m not complaining – if anything – I’m still recovering. Korea will be a different place without a lot of these people. I’ll be losing two good friends from Bundang, while Katy and Kristin are venturing out onto different paths. What’s one to do? Pick yourself up and find some new friends I guess…
There have been moments of clarity though. After church one Sunday, some of the remaining Trinity crew teamed up to take in a special Pixar exhibit. If you’re not aware, Pixar is the company responsible for some of the bigger digitally animated films of the past years. Toy Story, Monster’s Inc., Finding Nemo, and The Incredibles are just a few of the movies Pixar has worked on. The exhibit itself was interesting to be sure. It was amazing to realize that everything you see on the screen was first created on a piece of paper from someone’s mind. They had a few cool things – such as some animated clips and a spinning contraption that gave the illusion of animation. However, to be fair, the show was a tad sparse considering we spent the equivalent of 14 dollars.

This will now be my second week of no morning classes. I’m hoping things will settle down a bit now. I’ve got to make a conscious decision to be on top of things as well. I’ll end with a few finer details of my life here. The SSFL (Seoul Sunday Football League) has kicked off again and we’ve already had our first game. The other team didn’t really have a full squad and it was quite embarrassing in the end. Yet, I’m liking the dynamic and nature of our team this season – and hoping for great things – for the squad and for me personally. Finally, the English Premier League has also resurrected, with a whole new season of possibilities and match-ups. I’m excited. Due to my recent busyness, I haven’t really had a chance to watch much – but that’s all going to change!
Until then.
