This is it folks. The final post about Jeju. I’m sorry to prolong it all – but to be fair – we did a lot and took a lot of pictures in the few days we were there. I’m going to take off with the end of our second full day. Maybe this sounds all too confusing – but this is how I can keep it together in my head.
Our very last stop on Wednesday wasn’t entirely pleasant. By this time, I was tired – and frustrated. I would have loved to sleep in the car. However, HJ wanted to press on and I reluctantly followed. I think it become apparent quite quickly of my impatience as we trudged up yet another hill to take in a crater. I did my duty and as grumpy as I seemed, it was cool to be able to actually look down into the crater. If you remember, we visited another larger crater but due to fog we weren’t able to see anything. To tell you the truth though, it was a tad eerie. There was no one around, it was cold and damp and there were crows circling everywhere.
We came home that night and took it easy. Believe it or not, we ended up watching Con Air on TV. No regrets. The next morning was our last day there. Thankfully, the weather was in our favour! It was bright and sunny for the beach adventure we had planned. We woke up early enough to check out one final beautiful seaside. This is not the whole story – as we stopped at a few points along the way to take pictures – but our final objective never wavered.
I can’t remember the beach name – but it was yet again wonderful. Lovely sand and clear blue water. I think you could safely swim around as well. It was all very modern and clean – and just like many other destinations – void of people. After more photos and a snack we made our way to the airport. Everything was smooth – possibly even more than expected. We took the bus home from Gimpo airport feeling relaxed and content. I would say the trip was a success. We had one day of bad weather but that wasn’t nearly enough to slow us down. We saw a lot and I got a taste for the phenomenon known as Jeju Island. Would I go back? Yes…for chilling at the beach. I think I would love to kick back on those slices of sandy paradise – but that’s another lifetime.
Hope you all enjoyed these posts. Don’t worry – there will be no more Jeju. At least for awhile! I’ll be back soon with more soccer posts. Always so much to say about soccer.
