Swan Boats Revisited
As you probably remember, HJ and I paddled around in swan boats on the Han River a few weeks ago. However, we were just by ourselves. The next occasion was even better. For Lydia’s birthday, a group of us met up, jumped in the swan boats and paddled madly around.

It really was more fun because there was an element of competitiveness. There were races, bumper boats and just generally aggressive posturing. Now, this is not to say that we weren’t safe – everyone was fitted with a large lifejacket. HJ and I were in a boat with Katy and Kristin while Nathan, Lydia and Lucas were together in another.

The weather was nicer this time as well – so that made more a more enjoyable experience as well. The only worse thing about this excursion was the absolute abundance of dead fish. They seemed to be everywhere. Maybe we just weren’t looking last time but they kept popping up everywhere. Big fleshy fish. I’m not a fan.

The crazy thing was that some people were actually wakeboarding and waterskiing on the river. I cannot imagine what would compel anyone to immerse themselves in the waters of the Han. The waste and garbage is clearly visible – floating around. I guess some people are braver than I.

Following the boats, we hung around a little in the park kicking a tennis ball around. After that highlight, we headed out to Hyewha to absorb the scene and have some eats. It was a good day and hopefully a good birthday for Lydia as well. Looking back at the pictures – I strangely miss Lucas (Nathan’s brother) as he was only visiting Korea for a holiday. Hope you’re doing well Lucas – wherever you are!
Cheers,
-Paul
